America’s Crisis Response Fleet
Large Merchant Cargo Ships Delivering Disaster Relief from the Sea.
U.S. National Response Forces Foundation (USNRFF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation [ EIN 39-4225863 ] dedicated to strengthening America’s merchant marine and maritime industry while transforming how the Nation responds to crises.
As natural and manmade disasters grow in frequency and severity, our national response must expand in scale and ambition. USNRFF will unite the full capabilities of government, nonprofit, and private sector - including U.S. manufacturing - to ensure a truly National Response. | USNRFF will link U.S. shipping and disaster relief with public relations & diplomacy, education, training, research, and economic development to transform U.S. domestic and foreign crisis response actions into a powerful “smart power” tool for National Security and global stability. | In coordination with other stakeholders, USNRFF is building America's Crisis Response Fleet: a global fleet of large cargo ships - U.S. flag, U.S. crew, and each CRF ship loaded with 10-20,000 tons of U.S. manufactured supplies and equipment for humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and economic development ... to ensure we are Prepared at Home. Prepared Abroad.
USNRFF will achieve this goal through three overlapping phases: 1. Recruiting, a national media campaign. 2. Pilot program, with available ships. 3. Design and Build the CRF ships.
CRF ships will operate in four phases: 1. Homeport, plan & load. 2. Domestic standby. 3. Overseas standby. 4. Planned engagement - training, exercise, & economic development event.
